That was a Year that Was.
When I reached the grand old age of 65, I thought that I could now get out the warm slippers and leave the art of Legging to others more adapt to the 21st Centry neads.
However after 12 months of taking the Grand Kids to the Park. 3 times a week. and going through the rigmerole of making the beds, helping with the cleaning. I felt a little bored. now 71 and I have the Bug to join the rat race again.
I then noticed a thread about the oldest person in the land 118 so in fact there is a possibility of me only having used up. less than 50% of my expectancy.
So I then raised the question can I do now things that I did 25 years ago
Well I certanly cant go out and pull a 21 year old. will never be asked to take the penelty in the soccer sunday final Hare and Hounds v Red Heart.
There used to be a saying in Bookmaking that you will never fail as long as your legs stood up. there is also a saying that there is no such things as a new CHEAT, it is only a new cheater with modern equipment.
The find the lady. (Three Card Montie) card sharps of the 1930s. replaced with computor chickanary. but strip it down and it is the exact same as the past.
In fact it is much easier now to cheat, because you dont have to face the person being cheated, face to face.the story about a million £ con in the recent X FACTOR. has been laughed off, as just a silly wives tale.
But let us look at the event the money involved and ask the question could the final and the X Factor,Phone Votiing have been tampered with.
Well lets look back in History.
In 1953 a moderate racehorse called Francasal won a very poor race at BATH.
The odds of 10/1 seemed about right until the off course industry realised that there had been a major betting coup. all over the midlands and further afar.
The horse that actually won the race was a Ringer called Santa Amaro a good French sprinter. ok just a little stroke, popular at the time. but it was then realsied that the Telephone wires outside the track had been cut to stop the hedging money shortening the odds, so the winner was 10 times higher than the odds it would have been with no interference. allowing a midland team of Bookmakers to win a fortune.
So we had a ringer, cut telephone wires, and a betting coup. 100s of thousands involved, a sizable amount 50 years ago.
When the Great Train Robery was being planned “Backers” were approuched and asked if the would fund the scam.
“What will be neaded and how much could you steal.” was the question??
15 Men neaded, 5 vans, an ex Train driver, and an isolated farm. 10 Money Launderers.
the upturn was not known. and in fact they stole more money in the heist than was ever dreamed of.
The down turn one man was seriouisly injured.
Other Hiests took place were they were prepared to Kill. people, for a few Grand, with a possibility of 30 Years in the slammer.
So let us look at what will be known as the X,FF (The X Factor Fk Up)
What was neaded, a betting market 2 runners one big odds on 1/5 and the other 5/1, how much could be gained £Derillians.
But how could it be done and who would be neaded to carry it out,
10 Betting Accounts, and on Telephone communication expert.
Prob no more than 3 men and some funding.
With 90% of the votes coming from just two sections. Scottish and Wales would it have been possible to hinder one phone section. well in 1953 all they neaded was a ladder.and some cutting plyers.
OK I except that it is probably just those Dreamers who see intreage in every corner. even a Drunk Driver crashing a Car at High Spead to Kill a Princess.
But is it right to just say. that it is impossible to carry out such a Scam.. ?????????????
The Dreamers are only a few ticks away from the Planners.

The best strokes are not publicized & are never found out.
As Billy Dent once told me……..”Two in a plot is one too many”
Of course Mr memory is right. except for one and that was the original SP stroksters, as far back as 1920 they returned a 7/4 chance 25/1. but the bank Holidays, used quite often have 2 runner races and the betting of 10/11 each of two often resulted in the winner being returned 4/5 Favourite But you are certainly right, the very best planed coups or strokes were never reported.
At present there are as many strokes as ever but they are all computor driven,
Good Luck M/M

Merry christmas and a happy new year Don.
My old man tells me one is as old as he feels. So if you feel like it, go for it, whatever that maybe.

Another stroke not widely reported was the white city one in the 70s, a few people placed bets on returned favs in certain races that were 3/1 the field, really tight betting heats. of course one of the sp guys was in on it and if one of the jollys obliged instead of returning 3/1 joint of 3, or even 2nd fav. the winner would return 11/4 outright. it was rumbled because of greed and laziness, money was not spread evenly out
